Wanna write a book?
Work with an author.
My work.
My name is Dennis aka D. Haynes The Author, and I've started my journey as an author by writing two books that are drastically different; yet connect more than you may realize. My first goal as a writer is to write books that wake up the reader and gives you something you can relate to on a grand scale. My second goal as a writer is to help create more writers—like you—and be a bridge on your journey to writing your book and telling your story. #WannaWriteaBook
My first book is a self-help book that focuses on the Black community and the impact that reading could have on the community. Looking at where we are today, this book expresses the importance of reading and self-education, knowing and celebrating Black history, supporting Black businesses and entrepreneurs, and so much more. The title of the book is Wanna Hide Something From a N*gga, Put It In a Book.
My second book is a cannabis cookbook written with my co-author, business partner, and one of my best friends, Ashley Hill. The title of our cookbook is Smoke from the Pot: A Simple Guide to Cooking with Cannabis & 40 Recipes to Create at Home.

Writing a book can be an uphill battle.
Whether it's actually writing the content of your book, formatting your pages to look like a book, or sharing your book with the world on your own platform, writing and getting your book out there can be challenging work. I'm here to help make it easy. Here's how! |
Writing Coach.
A writing coach is a guide or a personal trainer for writing. As your writing coach I can help make the process easier, more fun, and less of a solo project filled with plenty of unexpected pitfalls. Especially if you’re just starting as a writer, sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know, until you learn it the hard way.
As a self-published author and entrepreneur, I specialize in helping writers who have decided to write a story or a book for the first time. I help them manage their expectations when it comes to what it takes to get through a first draft, working through editing—which can be daunting--and getting your brain baby out of your head and into a book for the world.

Book formatting/interior design.
In order to send your book to the printing company to have it printed exactly as you’d like your readers to see it in their hands, you need your book formatted into an actual book with your desired size, font, and layout.
Don’t underestimate this step in the publishing process. Book layout is one of the major factors that can impact the success of your book. And there’s a lot more that goes into designing the interior of a book than you might expect!
The interior design of a book is one of those things you typically don’t even think about if you’re a first-time author. It’s also one of those things that your readers won’t even recognize … unless it’s wrong. So, it’s important to get it right. If you’ve ever opened a book and something felt wrong or off about the page, it was most likely the book formatting/design that was throwing it off. Poor formatting can result in losing readers and even getting bad reviews for your book simply because the interior design was subpar.

website design.
If you have a book, or really any product, on the market, you should have a website.
You need a website designed to represent your company and brand well, AND it helps to grow your business. Your website will work for you and your company 24/7 and connects you directly to your customers worldwide right where they already at are--online.
With your own custom website, your customers know exactly where to go for your latest book/news and have a clear way to contact you. Social media can serve a similar purpose; it's great for your business and should be included in your marketing strategy for your book or product(s) without a doubt. Still, social media shouldn’t be your only online presence.
You need a website that is the hub for all of your online operations. Your website allows you to link all of your social media platforms, promote your upcoming events, link and post videos, and sell directly to your customers. It houses everything you and your business have to offer and share.
